When I was a kid in the 80's, I didn't really get into the Transformers rush, the He-Man phenom or, to be honest, really anything else ... except for wrestling. Take this as you will, but the idea of hot and sweaty men running around an enclosed space only to grapple with each other and see who could sit on who's face the fastest - *sigh* - that was pure entertainment.
Hulk Hogan was number one in my book. The man could do no wrong. I wanted to become strong enough to rip my shirt off my chest and wanted to put my hand to my ear to hear the people scream my name. Hulkamania in the 80's was what I got into. I can recall specific matches that Hogan participated in and can vividly recall the feelings I experienced watching him wrestle. Hell yeah.
And then came reality television that destroyed any sense of honor and dignity (does any reality star have any?) that the man had left. A small piece of my childhood was lost - I didn't really care nor feel any real sense of loss, but, still, it went away.
You would think, knowing that Hogan starred in a VH1 reality show titled "Hogan Knows Best" and the fact that I was disappointed in him, would be the end. But it's not. It's really not. My hero of the eighties had some kids. A daughter, specifically, is who I'm talking about. A daughter that became a semi-star because she dragged herself up from her fathers coattails and forced her way into the public eye. Brooke Hogan has a show which, unfortunately, I happened to watch ten minutes of this evening.
Brooke Hogan is like any ordinary sister; that is, if you want to see your sister raped and then set on fire. In less than ten minutes of viewing her program I observed homophobia (lightly tossed aside as "just kidding"), xenophobia, anti-dwarfism, threesomes ("OMG GROSS!"), and a prejudice against Hillary Clinton. A paraphrase, in regards to Hogan's statement on Clinton, is: "I would never vote for a woman for President! *laughs* They would have, like, menopause and periods and mood swings ... I mean, like, when I have a period, I, like, want to just, you know, kill someone! *laughs* Like, how could, like, someone run the country with that, you know?"
Again, I'm not angry or saying that Brooke doesn't have the right to broadcast her show, but I'm just advocating extreme torture by the use of ripping her nipples off with pliers and closing her vag with nails and THEN, and ONLY then, cutting her tongue out with a straight razor while screaming, "YOU WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER BE ALLOWED ON TELEVISION AGAIN!"
The first amendment can turn around for thirty seconds while I arrange a gang rape for Brooke Hogan. This bitch does not deserve to speak.
Yes, I said it. She doesn't.

Small forward progress made today, and then much discussion about house remodeling, both inside and out. I am sick to death of my kitchen. It is ugly. U. G. L. Y. Scrambled egg linoleum and counter tops, gray/white paint, cabinets that I think are pressed board, a hideous dropped ceiling, and weird fiberboard under the paint. And as if that wasn't bad enough, it's hard to cook in there because of limited counterspace and claustrophobic configuration. We wanted to do something more grand, but I think we are going to do a remodel without restructuring the actual walls (I wanted a pass through into my dining room and to push out a window into a breakfast nook area). So man and I have begun discussions and I think we are going to try to get it done before winter sets in (which is actually very soon). If we do what we want, there will be far more storage and counter space, it will be aesthetically pleasing, and easier to cook in overall--we'll probably move appliances to make things work better, and I'll probably get a much deeper sink (this one is really really shallow). Hopefully we can do some and cut the costs.
So all of you guys go tell all your friends to buy my books so I can afford this. :)

 I dun mean to be giving me own self a shout out, but I was looking at all the posts I have made from about 2006 until now, and the whole last year of entries plus the end of 2006 is missing from this particular journal at Lj because I deleted them. It's not like they are anything anyone canny live without, but sometimes I feel like if something should happen to me, I would only have the things on the net for anyone to remember me by. I wish I had someone who would watch over them for me if I were not here, but I don't, so that's that.
But all my personal stuff, including anything deleted here plus a bunch of private shiznit, is over at my Deadjournal here, and it is set up just like this one except the sidebar willna show the wee pics. :(
I should probably appoint Shona to be my political Irish websites curator! haha! [not that she has asked--just that she lives in Ireland.]

A signed exhibition catalogue by John Lennon containing risque sketches he drew of his wife Yoko Ono in the late 1960s has fetched £25,000 at auction.
 Lennon signed the catalogue for his exhibition entitled the Bag One for American journalist Sandra Shevey when she interviewed him and Ono in New York in 1972.
Lennon's original drawings from the catalogue were seized by Scotland Yard officers when shown in London in January 1970 on the second day of their exhibition because of their erotic nature.
They were a gift to his wife and celebrate their wedding, honeymoon and their plea for world peace in what became their notorious "bed-in" held in a bedroom of the Amsterdam Hilton.
British antiques dealer and Beatles devotee Tony Barnes, who lives in Spain, bought the exhibition catalogue signed by both Lennon and Ono at Gorringes auction house in Lewes, East Sussex.
Mr Barnes said: "I come from that era and Lennon is one of the most famous names in the world as well as being a pioneer of modern music. I have bought it to share with my children."
Shevey, whose interviewees have included Alfred Hitchcock, Dustin Hoffman and Liza Minnelli, interviewed Lennon and Ono for 12 hours at their New York apartment in 1972 and it became the basis for her book, The Other Side of Lennon, published in 1990.
Ms Shevey now lives in London and runs guided walks across the capital including a John Lennon-themed tour of his favourite haunts in the city.
Speaking of the sale, she said: "I'm over the moon."
